Interesting facts about me??? That is a tough one. Don't know how interesting it is but I'll try and tell you who I am.
Lived in S.E. Idaho until I was 14 yrs. Now I'm living in N. Utah.
I have always loved the outdoors. I can't remember a time when I wasn't wanting to be hunting, fishing, camping etc. As a child (5 yrs) I use to make
bows and arrows out of willows, I even had a pocket knife to use. I lived on a 58 acre farm and we had about 10 acres that was wooded. I built forts, snares,
had many camp-outs in those woods. Even tied ropes from tree to tree so I could swing like Tarzan. I started sports when I was in the 3rd grade. I played
football and wrestled. I continued this through high school. I lettered in both but wrestling was my sport. I was team captain, took second in my region and
finished 5 in state my senior year. Athletics or being in shape has always been a big part of my life. With the sports I played I spent many hours in the gym
lifting, as a result I had a pretty good build, if I say so myself. That became my next passion, and I eventually entered a couple bodybuilding competitions. I
did okay and finished in the top 6 at the two I entered at 19 yrs old. I then went off to Jr. College in central Utah (Snow College) where I did my Generals.
At about this time is when I started shooting my bow more (I always had a bow) and picked up hiking. A good friend and I started hitting the highest peaks in
Utah.I have seen some incredible vistas and wildlife that few others ever will. I continued my shooting, camping, hiking and hunting. I was picked up as a
co-op staff shooter for PSE in the early 90's where I shot 3D competition for them for a couple years. I then married in 96' and started a family 1 1/2
years later. This put a damper on my running around the country shooting my bow and arrow for the next 8 years. During that time I had a girl who is now 9 yrs
and my boy will be 12 in Dec.
Somewhere along the way I picked up a camera and have enjoyed that quite a bit. I have also got back into archery competition and am doing very well. I even
beat a couple pro shooters earlier this year. Both my kids love the outdoor life. My boy enjoys shooting his bow as well and he too is good at it. He won
several competitions last spring. My girl doesn't shoot so much but loves to camp. Just a few weeks ago I ran into a couple very nice people at a knapp-in
at the Cabelas store in Lehi Utah. As I walked by and talked to them and started asking questions I found myself sitting on a bench with an Ishi stick in one
hand and Obsidion in the other. The childhood memories of running through our wooded acres came flooding back. Making an arrow head has always been something I
wanted to do, I just didn't know where to start. Since then I am reliving my childhood in my back yard. In the past week and 1/2 I have built 7 fires with
bow and drill that I made from dead limbs off the trees in my yard. Now I'm teaching my son how to do it. Made a trip to the Obsidon quarry and have about
300 lbs...well 250lbs of it as I have already turned about 50 lbs into dust in the last 3 days.
